Has anyone used or know much about the titebond UV? I've been building with light/yellow woods and those last glue spots are always hard to find on it. I was thinking that using the UV glue would help a lot in making sure that extra bit of glue was off.
I'm wondering if anyone has experience with it. Does it act like regular titebond?

Aren't they referring to UV resistant for exposure to outside light?

No, it is supposed to be similar chemically to the original titebond, but has a UV additive so that it shows up under a blacklight. If you have a blacklight, you can use it to make sure you get all the traces of glue off of the areas you don't want it. This would help in lessening the chance of glue surprises when finishing.
I was just hoping to hear if anyone has used this for instrument building.

Sounds interesting, I use regular titebond. I've never seen the UV titebond.

I've seen it in their website which is Franklin Glues not Titebond. Yes, it's supposed to be visible under UV lamp, but still retain all the properties of the glue. You can find this all on their website.

I went to the Franklin White Titebond for guitars to get away from the yellowing dried glue which doesn't look as nice as a more clear translucent white glue.

That said, I still use hot hide glue for bridges, and dovetails, and sometimes, top braces.

The spec sheets look idendtical, so maybe I'll pick some up at the Woodcraft blowout this weekend. It says its a cream color and not yellow, so maybe it will dry a little more transparent than the yellow, too. Who knows....

I've never had a problem with glue spots on guitars. They get scraped and sanded sufficiently to remove all glue residue.

I see the UV glue being more applicable to cabinet-making where you don't sand so much.

       Franklin has offered that UV exposed glue for a while now and I've
gotten samples of it and tried it out. The UV feature does come in handy
fro making sure you's gotten all residue off the guitar's sufaces and along
all joints before beginning your finish process.

     I don't typically use Titebond on my guitars, but since the UV stuff is
the same formula as original Titebond, it works great in all the same
applications. I've seen a few small gue spots under finish on guitars built
by the very best builders on the planet and for more than $10k a pop so
even the best guys miss a tiny spot on occasion and this will certainly
help to avoid that.

     The UV additive doesn't affect it adhesive properties at all.

     You'll most likely have to order it from a vendor, though since i've not
found it on a shelf anywhere to date.

Franklin will clue you in to vendors in your area. Closest to me with the white titebond was Tulsa. So the UV would be similar, they know to whom they've shipped it recently.

Rockler has the Titebond UV stuff in the quart size on sale for $4.99

Looks like I have to go to Rockler. Sweet. Thats half price. I'd better pick up a small bottle to transfer to as well.
